The Hunger Games
Evenings and weekends
Effie was born and bred in the Capitol and as such was raised with impeccable manners and taste, at least in her opinion. She dislikes 'rudeness' and has a very short temper in this area. Her dress sense was perfect for the Capitol but seems silly and ridiculous to those outside of it. But appearance was important to Effie, at least in the beginning. Her job as escort meant that everything had to be perfect because she was representing the Capitol of course.
Like most others, from the Capitol, she saw the games as entertainment and was dedicated to her work. However once Katniss and Peeta entered her life she began to see things differently.
As she grew fonder of the two victors, Katniss and Peeta, (and even their mentor, Haymitch,) she began to thaw and lose her shallowness. Coming to realise and even show that she understands how terrible the games were.
Generally bright and bubbly she tried to make others around her enjoy themselves and their lives however some of this brightness has now dulled. During the rebellion she sided with the rebels and as a result was captured and tortured by the Capitol. After this her clothes, hair and make-up all but disappeared as she felt it wasn't right to be wearing such elaborate costumes.
Despite everything Effie has a kind heart and loves her team very much. She is loyal and dedicated and even now is trying to find the good in people and the world around her.
Effie has no special powers but is very organised and can be resourceful.
First person sample:
My name is Effie Trinket and I’m not sure what this is but if it is some kind of trick then it won’t work. We beat the Capitol and nothing you can do now will change that. Now where am I? It is extremely rude to keep me here without any explanation.
Second person sample:
Effie had found that her normal life, before the rebellion, had been impossible to return to. And while part of her was sad, a larger part was glad, as surely that made her a good person? Despite everything she had done. She’d had offers for work naturally but nothing really made her feel like she was doing something worthwhile and that was important to her now. She often thought about Peeta, Haymitch and, of course, Katniss. Wondering how they were and if they were okay.
When she had received the call from Peeta, asking her to visit Katniss she hadn’t hesitated, after all they were her team, her family if she was honest. She cared about them more than anything. So she had arranged everything and travelled to twelve where they all resided, currently standing in front of Katniss’ house.
She knew she looked different, gone were the wigs and more unique looking clothes, it was all false and part of a world that no longer existed. Raising her hand she knocked on the door and waited for the younger girl to answer.
